Autodesk Releases White Papers
-
-
Adding Autodesk® Civil 3D™ software to the mix raises even more
questions for users, such as the following: How do I use Autodesk Civil 3D?
Will it change my current design process? This white paper addresses these
questions and discusses the options and recommended procedures for using
Autodesk Civil 3D with Autodesk Land Desktop 2004 on a typical civil design
project.
-
Using
the Autodesk Civil 3D Dynamic, Relationship-Based Environment
Change is inevitable. If you don’t think so, stop reading now and
consider taking up collecting dinosaur eggs or Dodo bird feathers. The
paradigm shift for the land development community is here, now. Autodesk has
engineered the first and only feature-based civil design application where
objects in the design are aware of their relationship to other objects in the
design.

Important Notice for AutoCAD Release 2000
Users
These Autodesk Products will be discontinued as of January 15, 2004
AutoCAD 2000
AutoCAD LT 2000
CAD Overlay 2000
AutoCAD Mechanical 2000
Mechanical Desktop R4 and Release 4 Power Pack
Architectural & Building Design
Architectural Desktop R2
Land Development Desktop R2
Civil Design R2
Survey R2
AutoCAD Map 2000
Autodesk support for these products will be offered until January 15,
2004.
What does it mean when a product is retired? Why should
you bother upgrading now?
When Autodesk retires a product, it means they will no longer offer:
-
Technical Support – Autodesk will no longer offer technical
support for the product.
-
Drivers – no new drivers will be created. This means that as
operating systems and hardware progresses, your software may not be
compatible.
-
Patches/Fixes – No new patches or fixes will be created. Any
existing bugs in the system will stay (although many bugs have been fixed
in more recent versions).
-
Upgrade Paths – if you wish to upgrade your licenses or migrate
to another product after the deadline, you will have to pay for a full
seat of software instead of an upgrade. An upgrade from your existing
software can run $500 - $1,500 per seat.
If you purchase a full seat of software after the deadline it will run
between $1,500 and $5,000 per seat.
Don’t lose your valuable software investment.
Do you know what you’ve missed by not upgrading your R2000?
There have been hundreds improvements made to AutoCAD from 2000 to 2004. If
you’re still using 2000, you’re now three releases behind and missing out
on the latest technology to make your job easier:
Here are just some of the features that were introduced in the AutoCAD 2004
Release:
-
Faster, more efficient performance, save storage space and increase the
speed of file transfers such as e-mailing with .dwg files that are up to
44% smaller.
-
More screen real estate with new tool palettes and command lines that
are translucent.
-
AutoCAD Express Tools; including arc-aligned text, layer freeze and
Text-Mtext tool.
