Shareware Review - September 1997

Conversion Calculator

September shareware review is on yet another non AutoCAD, but CAD related program. AutoCAD in itself does many fantastic thing with its 3D and graphic capabilities. It will even allow you to draw in U.S. Imperial and convert quickly to metric or even a cubit (if you have a use for that unit of measure) (RIIIGHT!). However if you do not need the power of AutoCAD to create a graphic, nor do you wish to handle conversions with AutoCAD, this program is RIGHT for you. This application will convert Speed, Temperature, Time, Volume (dry and liquid), Area, Energy, Flow, Fuel Economy, Length, Mass and Pressure. Each category has several different ways to convert the information you know to the information that you are needing.

Conversion Calculator is a fast and easy to use program that will run in Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 and it does not require Visual Basics' library file. If you are working on a government project, the chances are high that you are working from design drawings that were done using metric dimensions and calculations. This program will quickly get you through the initial jolt of converting metric to U.S. Imperial feet and inches. The conversions are extensive in all of the categories and the ease of use will have you converting dissimilar units in no time.

To run the Conversion Calculator simply select the category in which you need to perform the conversion. Say, for speed you can convert meters per hour to miles per hour, or even to kilometers per hour. With Conversion Calculator you are not locked in to a linear conversion, each category has the same sub selections on both sides of the converter. That is to say that you can convert back kilometers or miles per hour to meters per hour quickly by changing the direction of your converter.

Conversion Calculator is a freeware and will download in about one minute with a 28.8 connection. Just unzip the contents into a file of your liking and make a shortcut to the executable.
