Have you ever wondered just what the
little (default is blue) blue squares are that suddenly appear when you click on an
object. They are called "Grips". Grips became part of the core
AutoCAD engine at release 12. Grips are snap points that appear at specific
locations on entities. By using grips, the user can modify entities by selecting one
or more grips together or in conjunction with any one of five grip editing options.
To use the options provided for grips, select an object and then click on your right mouse
button. A flyout that
contains your options will appear. SCALE Scale mode will allow you to change the size of a selected object. Select the object and select a grip and drag the object until it is the size you need it to be. If you use the Scales multiple option you can create concentric or eccentric scaled copies of the selected object. To make scaled copies, select an object in this case the circle. Select the center grip as your base point, the grip will turn red (become hot). While holding down your shift key, select the hot grip again at the command prompt type in the letter "C" and then drag the cursor and left click at the desired size of the copy. (continued...) |
